Challenged with creating a sustainable packaging design for an everyday consumable item, I chose to tackle seasonings (herbs & spices) as I noticed an abundance of glass jar usage on the market as well as little consideration for organization which continually is a pain with having seasonings in the kitchen. My main focuses for this project were to use environmentally friendly materials and create a product that would not clutter the kitchen. My solution was a Rolodex inspired stand that holds packets of individual spices. The ring stand offers an easy organizational system while the packets make it easier for customers to portion out the seasoning while cooking as each one holds the typical amount for a meal. The brand for this product, Mother Herb, evokes nature and freshness with earthy color palettes and plant and animal imagery. Customers can be assured that the product is the best quality.
Each seasoning packet features its own unique color and imagery on the front and back. The packet itself is designed to be resealable so no seasoning is wasted, and reattach-able for easy storage on the ring holder.
